Our mission at Velvet is to bring natural Texture, enhanced Richness, and Diversity to all hair.
The studio aims to bring these words to life with our highly educated staff.
Each Velvet Hair Artist strives to stay innovative by creating new and classic styles specifically designed for each individual client.
"The service was amazing, but, most importantly, I felt welcomed. As a trans woman, it really meant a lot to feel accepted and respected. Upon leaving the salon, I was really happy with how Annie styled my hair, but it was a day or so later before I truly appreciated her remarkable skills. Not only did she fix the overall shape of my hair, as we discussed, but she styled the cut in a way that showed that she genuinely understood exactly what I was asking for. I honestly couldn't stop smiling; the way she made my hair just work left me feeling positively euphoric!
All in all, it was an absolutely wonderful experience, and I am very much looking forward to future appointments."

"No lie this is the best Salon around! My experience with Velvet is always 1000/10 and my review is extremely overdue! The salon is beautiful, clean and welcoming! They have an inhouse pup named Millie who makes the salon feel just like home. The stylists are top knotch, extremely personable and knowledgeable in all things hair and products. I've seen Emily for forever now and she understands my fine hair and really helped educate me on how to take care of it. I recently got extensions put in by Lish and had an amazing experience working with her! The salon and these stylists make me and my hair feel beautiful and confident. Unfortunately they are stuck with me for forever so sorry not sorry! I would recommend Velvet to anyone and everyone who wants an amazing hair experience. If you aren't coming here you really are missing out!"

"Amazing for curly hair gals!! I finally found my perfect hair salon and stylist!! Everything from the coffee station in the front and the relaxing and inviting atmosphere!! Annie did an incredible job with my curly hair. She gave me a tutorial and how to style it. Also she was so knowledgeable about hair products! She truly listened to all my needs (I’m a mom of 2 young kids and need to be able to put my hair up and out of my face a lot) she took her time and so detailed. I like to get it blow dried straight for a treat to myself and she did a great job with that too. Thank you so so much for a wonderful experience after many not so great experiences :))"

The lot behind the salon is reserved for employees only. Please do not park in the Cambridge Shopping Center (across the street) - they will tow! Please utilize the meter-free street parking on Gay, Market, Chestnut and Franklin Streets.

If you need to cancel/reschedule an appointment, please do so at least 48 hours before your appointment. Any appointments that are canceled with less than a 48 hour notice are subject to a cancellation fee of 50% of the scheduled service(s).
No-Show appointments without a curtesy call are subject to a charge for the full amount of the service.
